Carla received her PhD. in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) program. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry (with minors in Chemistry and Computer Science) from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, where she researched antibiotic resistance in E. coli and M. ruber.

Although Carla is actually in Dr. Drena Dobbs' lab, she hangs out in the Dill-PICL lab (because they're cool.)

Carla's current research focus is in creating and improving machine learning-based methods of predicting RNA-protein interactions. She is also a TA for Human Anatomy Lab (Biol 255L).

In her spare time, Carla plays videogames and table-top RPGs, where she rolls '1' a statistically improbable number of times. She has played more Skyrim than you.
